The Syrian Coalition expresses its full confidence in the revolution’s media institutions and hails their commitment to the standards of professional journalism. The Syrian Coalition’s spokesman Salem al-Meslet stresses on these institution’s right to publication and distribution as long as they remain committed to the ethical and professional standards of journalism, pointing out that any breach of these standards should be dealt with exclusively by legal means. Meslet denounces the storming of media offices in Idlib Province by members of al Nusra Front based on false allegations. “It is our duty to defend the right of expression, the slogan chanted by 1000s of Syrians since the beginning of the revolution for which huge sacrifices were made. The Syrian people revolted against decades-long repression and restriction of freedoms imposed by the Assad regime, and are still determined to regain these rights.
