Syrian Coalition: Growing Dissent in Assad’s Camp Augurs His Inevitable Downfall

Anwar al-Badr, member of the Syrian Coalition, said that “the sit-ins and media campaigns launched by Assad’s loyalists are signs of the growing dissatisfaction among Assad’s supporters due to the mounting losses suffered by regime forces. The growing dissent in Assad’s camp foreshadows his inevitable downfall that begun with the first anti-regime demonstration, which were met with live ammunition in the streets of Dara’a, Homs, Baniyas and Damascus.” Badr attributes the burgeoning disgruntlement among Assad’s troops and their families to the indifference shown by Assad towards those who were tricked and sacrificed by his sectarian policy aimed solely at serving his political goals in the region. The door of the revolution is open to everyone, and a delay in joining the revolution will not affect the relationship with any component of Syria’s social fabric. Every Syrian is an essential part in the revolution for freedom and dignity, a revolution in which Syrians are not classified as opponents and loyalists, but are all united in their quest for their lawful rights.
