Head of the opposition’s negotiations delegation to the Geneva negotiations Asaad Alzoabi accused the Assad regime of standing behind the bombings that rocked the cities of Jablah and Tartous on Monday.
Alzoabi said that the blasts provide yet further proof that the Assad regime is determined to disrupt negotiations and undermine chances of reaching a political solution that could put an end to the bloodshed and unify the Syrian people.
The Assad regime is known to have orchestrated similar bombings previously with the aim of igniting strife among components of the Syrian people, Alzoabi added.
The Syrian Coalition condemned any and all terrorist attacks against civilians across Syria. In a release released on Monday, the Coalition condemned the terrorist bombings that hit Jablah and Tartous.
The Coalition stressed that the Assad regime is responsible, directly or indirectly, for all terrorist operations targeting civilians in Syria.
“Indeed, the Assad regime has planned and contributed to the rise of ISIS. In addition, it has been involved in orchestrating state terrorism against the Syrian people,” the Coalition said.
The release added that “these terrorist bombings targeted civilians indiscriminately. They are similar to the war crimes committed by the Assad regime against the Syrian people in various parts of Syria on a daily basis using all types of weapons and including mass liquidation of detainees in Assad’s prisons.”
“These attacks refute the Assad regime’s allegation that it is protecting minorities in Syria; they provide yet further proof that the Assad regime has lost the ability to protect civilians even in areas under its control,” the Coalition said. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Smart News Agency)
