“Many world states want Geneva II to be a media event solely” Ahmad al-Jarba, the Syrian Coalition President, said. He accused the regime to use a policy of “mining” the international conference. President Jarba asks the sponsoring countries of Geneva II a question; “Do you want the conference to be held only, or do you want it to succeed?” “If they want the conference to be as media event so televisions and cameras show foreign ministers meeting, or only to show the world that the head of Syrian opposition and some members are sitting with the regime representatives, where each participant delivers a speech then he leaves, this would be a shame.” “I feel that many foreign ministers just want that, then they say (to Syrians): “the combat continues, just go. But this shall not be passed and is not efficient in the current conditions”. Al-Jarba added that “Assad doesn’t want to go to Geneva II, he is using barrels against citizens in Aleppo, Damascus and all other cities in order to drive the Syrian Coalition not to go to Geneva. The regime says it insists on Iran’s participation; this demand undermines Geneva II” (Syrian Coalition)
