Secretary-General of the Syrian Coalition Mohammed Yahya Maktabi and political committee members met with a Russian delegation of Russia’s new envoy to Syria and the Russian consul in Istanbul Alexei Verov.
The two sides stressed the need for reaching a political solution in Syria and exchanged views on how to achieve this goal. The Russian side has invited the Syrian Coalition to attend the Moscow II conference scheduled to be held in early April.
The Syrian Coalition briefed the Russian delegation on the document of basic principles for a political settlement in Syria, which was laid out by General Assembly in its latest meeting and which will serve as a road map for a political solution. The Syrian Coalition expressed hopes that the document will also give a push for the re-launch of negotiations in accordance with the Geneva declaration. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
