Members of the Syrian National Coalition met with members of the Syrian Islamic Council in the town of al-Bab in northern rural Aleppo. Both sides discussed the humanitarian crisis in Idlib resulting from the Assad regime and Russia’s onslaught on the region and the Coalition’s ongoing efforts to ensure protection of civilians and an end to the shelling on Idlib.
Participants in the meeting included members of the Coalition Ahmed Shehadi and Najib Rahmoun as well as Director of the Office of the Syrian Islamic Council in Syria Sheikh Abdullah Rahal.
Rahmoun talked about the Coalition’s work mechanism which focuses on the presence in the liberated areas through its offices and executive institutions, most notably the Syrian Interim Government.
Rahmoun pointed out that the Coalition seeks to strengthen the relationship with the revolutionary institutions and organizations operating in the liberated areas and which share the same goals.
Moreover, Rahmoun stressed the importance of the unification of efforts to support the steadfastness of the opposition fighters in Idlib, fend off the Assad regime and Russian onslaught on the region, and provide assistance to the hundreds of thousands of IDP.
