Vice-president Mustafa Osso, Secretary General Mohammed Yahya Maktabi and member of the political committee Suhair Atassi met with vice president of the New Zealand Mission in Turkey Ed Michalzik today’s morning.
During the meeting, the Syrian Coalition reaffirmed commitment to a political solution in accordance with the Geneva I Communique and the relevant UN resolutions that includes the departure of Assad and his inner circle and establishing a transitional governing body with full powers.
Members the Syrian Coalition congratulated New Zealand for obtaining a temporary seat at the UN Security Council, expressing hope that New Zealand play an active role in resolving international issues, particularly the Syrian crisis in a wat that achieves the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom and dignity.
The meeting discussed the situation of Syrian refugees, while Syrian Coalition members thanked New Zealand for stepping up humanitarian aid for refugees. They also pointed to the need to increase support for the education and health sectors in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
