The Syrian Coalition offered its deep condolences to the family of murdered Jo Cox MP as well as to the British people. Jo Cox MP was stabbed and shot in her constituency on Thursday. She later was pronounced dead of wounds she sustained in the attack.
Vice-president of the Syrian Coalition Muwaffaq Nyrabiya paid a tribute to Jo Cox MP after her brutal assassination. “Syria has lost an honest and dear friend,” Nyrabiya said.
Cox used her short time as an MP to continue her career-long dedication to helping the plight of refugees and made a name for herself by campaigning on Syria-related issues. She was co-chair of the Friends of Syria All Party Parliamentary Group and worked hard toward trying to find a solution to Syria’s years-long war.
Cox repeatedly accused the Assad regime of committing the most egregious violations and of systematic targeting of Syrian civilians. She called for bringing Assad to trial for war crimes he committed in Syria.
Cox also called for the imposition of sanctions on Russia for its bombing of civilians in Syria. She also pressed for launching airdrops of aid to those in need in Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition + Agencies)
