Nora Al Ameer, vice president of the Syrian Coalition, warns of ISIS’s sweep into more towns and villages north of Aleppo “as it poses very dangerous threat not only to Syria but on the whole region. “ISIS’s steady advance on northern Aleppo is not surprising, since it follows Assad’s handover of the 17th Division and the 93rd Brigade and other military positions in eastern Syria to ISIS in order to commit more troops to the battle against the Free Syrian Army. So far the international community’s response to ISIS’s surge in east and northeastern Syria has been futile and it will not be able to put an end to terrorism if it insists on offering partial solutions to the problem of terrorism. However, the United States and the international community rushed to stop ISIS’s surge in Iraq, taking both military and political measures to contain this terrorist organization. While the Free Syrian Army has repeatedly expressed its readiness to fight ISIS, it has not yet received the necessary aid.” Al Ameer also said that “the rise of ISIS is the direct outcome of the tyranny of the Assad regime, and the only way to deal with ISIS is through dealing with the root cause of the problem.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
