The Syrian Coalition said that the political process has thus far failed to achieve its goal of forming a transitional governing body with full executive powers in accordance with the Geneva Communiqué of 2012 and UN Security Council resolution 2254.
President of the Syrian Coalition Anas al-Abdah said that the political process reached a dead end because the Assad regime is not serious about engaging in a political solution. Abdah referred to the Assad regime’s brutal campaign on Aleppo as further proof it is still insisting on pursuing a military solution to the conflict.
Abdah stressed that Aleppo will not fall in the hands of regime forces and foreign militias fighting on its side under Russian aerial cover, calling on the international community to put pressure on the Assad regime to stop its brutal campaign on Aleppo.
Despite all the challenges, Abdah said, the Syrian people will regain all their rights and build a state for all Syrians. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
