The Syrian National Coalition stated that “the Assad regime executed around 20 rebel fighters and transferred 80 more from Homs to the Security Branch No. 235 (known as the Palestine Security Branch) in Damascus. “Those fighters had surrendered themselves and were moved from the besieged quarter of Homs to AL Khadr district, after reaching a deal with regime forces whereby they will release all those who lay down their arms. The deal was reached prior to the one which was brokered by the United Nations whereby besieged rebel fighters were allowed to evacuate the city to the rebels-held areas in northern Homs province. The Syrian Coalition condemns “the executions which were carried out by regime forces against the detainees,” expressing its “deep concern about the fate of the rest who have been transferred to Damascus. We call on the international organizations to act quickly to ensure the safety of the detained rebel fighters, as thousands of detainees died under torture in the prisons of the Assad regime which has repeatedly reneged on agreements and wriggled out of its commitments.
