Political committee members met with representatives the Friends of the Syrian people countries on Tuesday to discuss the latest military and political developments, especially the Syrian refugees issue in transit countries, the direct Russian military intervention in Syria, and de Mistura’s plan.
Vice-president Nagham al-Ghadiri said that the Friends of Syria have so far fallen behind in their support for the Syrian people politically and militarily, unlike the stable and continuous support given by Russia and Iran to the Assad regime. She stresses that a political solution cannot be achieved through Russian aircrafts and tanks or the daily massacres committed by Iran and Hezbollah militias against the Syrian people.
She added that the Syrian Coalition went a long way in the institutionalization of the relationship with the political, military and civil revolutionary forces, and also set up mechanisms for joint decision-making with regard future developments.
Ghadiri pointed out that the political, military and revolutionary forces have a common vision with regard to de Mistura’s plan, adding that everyone agrees on the Geneva I Communique as a reference and the basis for pushing towards a political solution that ensures the establishment of a transition governing body with full executive powers, including powers of the president.
