Secretary-General of the Syrian National Coalition, Abdelbaset Abdullatif, met with Rana Abbawi, Political Advisor for the Syria Team at the Dutch foreign ministry and discussed with her the latest field and political developments in Syria.
Abdullatif begun the meeting by welcoming and praising the Netherlands’ humanitarian and political role in support of the Syrian people’s aspirations as well as its generous hosting of Syrian refugees.
Abdullatif gave an overview of the situation in the liberated areas, stressing that the Coalition is working through its executive institutions to ensure security and promote stability in those areas. He pointed out that the PYD militia prevents this and insists on terrorizing civilians and committing crimes against them through continuous terrorist bombings.
Moreover, Abdullatif spoke about the field trips he has recently made to the liberated areas along with members of the political committee and presidential body, including the trip to Jarablus and Afrin in rural Aleppo.
He added that the Syrian Interim Government’s Ministry of Local Administration succeeded in forming a local council in the town of Tel Abyad and another one in the town of Ras al-Ayn. He pointed out that thousands of people returned to their original areas of residence in those areas.
Regarding the political situation, Abdullatif stressed that the Assad regime’s delegation set preconditions outside the mandate of the Constitutional Committee before agreeing on the agenda with the aim of disrupting the constitutional process. He stressed that this regime stands in the face of the aspirations of the Syrian people and the future of Syria. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
