Khalid Saleh, Head of the Media Office, slams Iran’s arrogant remarks represented in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ confirmation that it has a military forces in Syria fighting alongside the Assad regime. He describes these remarks as “political insolence and outright admission of aiding Assad in his genocidal crimes against the Syrian people.” Deputy head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps, Lieutenant Gen. Hossein Salami, said that “the forces linked to the Iranian revolution in Iraq, Syria and Yemen are 10 times larger than Hezbollah’s forces in Lebanon.” Saleh also said that Iran’s growing involvement in the Syrian conflict followed Assad’s repeated pleas for Iran to save his crumbling regime which has been considerably weakened by the large-scale defections in its armed forces. Moreover, the Assad regime has gone beyond pleading for help to trying to legitimize Iran’s military intervention in Syria when its Foreign Minister Walid Muallem described Iran’s military intervention as pre-emptive strikes against terrorist groups.“ Saleh calls upon the international community to force Iranians to pull its terrorist militias out of Syria and stop aiding Assad in his barbaric war on the Syrian people. “Such practices reflect the insistence of Hezbollah and the Iranian regime to try to transform the popular uprising in Syria into a sectarian war that will lead to dire consequences not only to Syria but the whole region.”
