Alia Mansour, member of the political committee, lashed out at the remarks made by Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil who objected to Syrian women giving birth in hospitals in Lebanon and to allowing Syrian refugees to receive education in Lebanese schools. “If Bassil wants Syrian refugees to go back to their country, the Lebanese government must put pressure on Hezbollah to withdraw its militias from Syria. We understand the big burdens put on Lebanon as a result of the continuous flow of Syrian refugees, but the Syrian people cannot be denied the right to flee everyday death and the terror of Assad’s brutal campaign.” Mansour rules out that the Syrian refugees will be settled in Lebanon, as they are determined to return to their homeland to rebuild what the Assad regime has destroyed. The Syrians also looks forward to building good relations with the Lebanese brothers, who the Assad regime has always dealt with their country as a sphere of influence rather than a sovereign country.” Moreover, Mansour said that “we suggested setting up camps near the Lebanese border to ease the burden placed on Lebanon and to organize the delivery of relief aid. Even though the Lebanese Foreign Minister sees the refugee issue as an issue of Lebanon’s sovereignty rather than a humanitarian issue, he has always turned a blind eye to the violations committed by the Assad regime against Lebanon’s sovereignty, the latest occurred today when Assad’s air force launched air raids on the Lebanese territory, killing two Syrian refugees.” Mansour thanks the Lebanese people for hosting the Syrian refugees, calling on the international community to provide them with relief aid.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
