Syrian Coalition: The File of Detainees is Among our Top Priorities

Secretary General Mohammed Yahya Maktabi stresses that the file of detainees in Assad’s secret jails is a top priority for the Syrian Coalition’s in a letter directed to the organizers of the “Save the Rest” campaign, expressing his support and appreciation for the efforts made by the organizers of the campaign that aims to call attention to detainees. “We raised the issue of the detainees in our recent meetings with the German and Chinese ambassadors, and called for exercising pressure on the Assad regime to release the detainees and alleviate their suffering. “No-one must forget the role of activists who have been detained by Assad’s security forces, and that almost every Syrian has a brother, a friend or relative who is waiting a bleak fate in Assad’s secret jails.” Makatabi concluded his letter wishing the campaign success in ridding the detainees of the agony and torments of detention in Assad’s prisons.
