Nagham al-Ghadiri, member of the political committee, said that “the report submitted by the International commission of inquiry on Syria, and its confirmation that the crimes of the Assad regime outweigh those of ISIS, in addition to the statements of the American Secretary of State John Kerry yesterday that the Assad regime has violated the Treaty for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons by using chlorine gas as a weapon, all clearly indicate that the international community is now convinced more than ever that the Assad regime is the primary terrorist threat to the Syrian people.” Commenting on the statements of the Russian ambassador to the United Nations, Vitaly Churkin, who raised doubts about Washington’s ability to effectively build an international coalition against ISIS without coordinating with the Assad regime, Ghadiri stresses that the Assad regime cannot be a partner in the anti-ISIS coalition as it has been practicing all kinds of terrorist acts against the Syrian people using conventional and unconventional weapons, in addition to incarcerating and torturing tens of thousands of civilians in its secret dungeons. The 55,000 photos of detainees killed under torture in Assad’s jails and which were leaked by Caesar provide compelling evidence that the Assad regime is the arch-terrorist in the region.” Ghadiri expresses astonishment at Russia request’s that the anti-ISIS coalition must include the Assad regime who has been bombing and displacing civilians in outright violation of all human rights laws for no crime they did but for demanding freedom and democracy. Moreover, she denounces Russia’s military coordination with the Assad regime which approved Russian military intervention in Syria and launching air strikes.” Ghadiri concluded her remarks stressing that “while the Assad regime has been busy with its war on the Syrian people, the Free Syrian Army has been battling ISIS since late 2013 and has since drove it out of much of Aleppo and Idlib provinces even though the international community was turning a deaf ear to the FSA’s demands for weapons and ammunition.
