Mohammed Hussein Qaddah, vice president of the Syrian Coalition, expresses surprise at “the hesitation of the international community and its inability to put an end to the violations committed by the Assad regime in Syria. In Syria, there are hundreds of thousands of detainees and missing persons in Assad’s jails suffering the worst kinds of torture and humiliation. The photos that were leaked by the defected officer code-named Caesar documenting the deaths of more than 11,000 detainees under torture are an example on the size of the brutal crimes committed by Assad’s forces against civilians in his dungeons.” Qaddah’s remarks were made during a speech he gave during a of the Consultative meeting of the Human Rights Council in Geneva held the day before yesterday, and was dedicated to focus on human rights violations, including the massacres against the Syrian people. Qaddah stressed that six million Syrians are internally displaced due to Assad’s systematic destruction of their homes, and that approximately 3.5 million Syrian children are now deprived of education, which poses a serious threat to the future of the younger generation and the future of Syria over decades to come.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
