The Syrian Coalition urges the Friends of the Syrian people group to support the establishment of a safe zone in northern Syria in order to protect civilians from Assad’s explosive barrel bombs, adding that this move will mitigate the flow of refugees to Europe.
In a meeting with the general secretariat of the friends the Syrian people group Ambassador Stefan van Wersch on Wednesday, the Syrian Coalition stresses that the Russian aggression did not target ISIS, but directed almost all its attacks against rebels and civilians. It emphasizes the right of Syria’s rebels to defend Syria’s national sovereignty and the Syrian people.
van Wersch described Russia’s behavior in Syria as reckless, saying that Russian President Putin will lose many of his country’s friends, and that this intervention will inevitably affect the political process.
He said that the true rebels’ belief in freedom always brings hope that the Syrian people will achieve their legitimate aspirations for freedom and dignity. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
