The Syrian National National said that the Assad regime continues its criminal, terrorist attacks against the Syrian people as the world celebrated the new year. On the New Year’s Eve, regime forces committed a massacre against pupils of a primary school and a kindergarten in the town of Sarmin in rural Idlib.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the Coalition said that the deadly attack on Sarmin is a “brutal crime that took place in front of everyone as part of series of crimes committed right under the nose of the international community in violation of international resolutions and international law.”
“Leaders of the free world did not bother to condemn this heinous crime nor did they assume their responsibilities and duties towards civilians,” the Coalition added.
“The international community and international actors are well aware of what is going on on the ground. It is imperative, therefore, that they give up their passive role that the regime uses as a green light to commit more crimes; put an immediate end to this barbaric campaign, and fulfill their duties to impose an urgent solution in line with international resolutions.”
The bombing, which took place as schoolchildren were leaving school, resulted in the death of five schoolchildren and four other civilians, as well as injured many others, including children and teachers in a nearby kindergarten. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
