The Syrian Coalition expressed its support for Saudi Arabia’s decision to cut diplomatic ties with the Iranian regime, calling on all Arab and Islamic countries to follow Saudi Arabia’s lead. The Syrian Coalition welcomed the move which came as a response to Iran’s crimes in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen as well as to its meddling in the internal affairs of Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states.
“We call upon the Arab League to respond to Iran’s aggression against the Arab countries. We also call for expelling Iran from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in response to its support of terrorism and recruiting of dozens of sectarian militias that kill and besiege Syrian children and women,” the Syrian Coalition said in a statement.
“The Iranian regime, well-known for its oppression against the Iranian people. It has executed thousands of opponents, intervened in the affairs of other countries, committed crimes against humanity and aided and abetted the Assad regime and the Russian invaders in killing over 400,000 Syrians and displacing 13 million more,” the Syrian Coalition added.
The Syrian Coalition also said that “these practices require that the Iranian regime be confronted with the utmost resolve and determination. Measures must be taken to defeat Iran’s sectarian project aimed at sowing chaos and destruction in the region. Supporting the Syrian people and the Free Syrian Army should be at the forefront of these measures to eliminate the Iranian growing threat in the region and the whole world, as well as to liberate Syria and other Arab countries from the Iranian occupation.”
Saudi Arabia said Sunday it had severed ties with Iran over the storming of the Saudi Embassy in Tehran. Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir said at a news conference that Iran’s diplomatic mission and related entities in Saudi Arabia had been given 48 hours to leave.
Mr Jubeir said Saudi Arabia would not let Iran undermine its security, accusing it of having “distributed weapons and planted terrorist cells in the region”.
“Iran’s history is full of negative interference and hostility in Arab issues, and it is always accompanied by destruction,” Jubeir told a news conference. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
