Secretary-General Mohammed Yahya Maktabi warmly applauds the upcoming 14th conference of the Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria.
The conference will be held on November 20 with the participation of the Syrian Coalition member Salah Darwish. Participants will discuss the tragic situation in Syria as a result of the Assad regime’s insistence on pursuing a military solution to the crisis. They will also discuss ways to reach a political solution in Syria, the Syrian Kurds’ issue, and the upcoming Vienna talks.
The Kurdish Democratic Progressive Party in Syria was established on June 14, 1957 to defend Kurdish issues in Syria. Its secretary-general Abdul Hamid Darwish is one of the founding fathers of this party.
The party has since then struggled along with other Kurdish parties and national and progressive forces in the country. It is a founding block of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, one of the Syrian Coalition’s components. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
