The Syrian embassy and the Syrian community in Qatar held sit-in to show solidarity with Dara’a province which is being subjected to ferocious onslaught by the Assad regime and Russia forces.
The sit-in was held under the title ‘Dara’a, the birthplace of the revolution and the graveyard of the invaders.’ Ambassador of the Syrian Coalition to the State of Qatar, Nizar al-Haraki began the event with a speech in which he stressed that the Syrian community in Qatar will always stand with Dara’a as he hailed the people of the province for the heroic resistance they are showing.
“We will stand with you to regain our dignity and to make the dawn of freedom for which people have always longed,” Haraki said. He pointed out that the Syrian people are the most thirsty for freedom from which they have been deprived through the five decades of the Assad regime’s rule.
Diaa Mubarak, Deputy Head of the Syrian community in Qatar, pointed out that “the situation in Dara’a today is just like the rest of the Syrian cities and towns whose people are going through unspeakable suffering at the hands of the Assad family who turned Syria into a farm for their own.” He added: “What’s going on in Dara’a followed a decision by tyrants of the world to crush the Syrian revolution in its birthplace.”
Meanwhile, relief aid workers held a sit-in in the town of Ariha in Idlib province on Tuesday to show solidarity with the people who were displaced by the Assad regime’s ongoing offensive in Dara’a.
Participants in the sit-in held signs that read “our bodies are here but our hearts are in Dara’a” and “Dara’a is under fire.” They stressed that the targeting children, hospitals and civil defense centers is a crime against humanity.
The provinces of Idlib and Aleppo have witnessed demonstrations and sit-ins over the past few days in solidarity with the people of Dara’a. Protests were held in the towns of A-Dana and Haas in rural Idlib, while Aleppo provincial council held a sit-in in the town of Khan al-Asal on Sunday. (Source: Syrian Coalition’s Media Department)
