Head of the Syrian Interim Government, Abdurrahman Mustafa, accompanied by Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdul Majeed Barakat, inaugurated the third bridge project in the town of Afrin on Monday.
The event was attended by Secretary of the SOC’s political committee, Abdulbasit Abdullatif, several members of the political committee and General Assembly, Secretary-General of the Syrian Tribal Council, Jihad Marai, several ministers, deputy head of the local council in Afrin, several heads of provincial and local councils, as well as media workers and notables.
Barakat emphasized that the advancement of northern Syria is a priority, achieved through the opening of sustainable projects in the liberated areas. Such projects aim to improve services and infrastructure, and he praised the interim government’s efforts despite its limited resources.
Mustafa stressed that the interim government is committed to continuing the development and construction. He highlighted the ongoing efforts to implement important and vital economic projects that will alleviate the burden on citizens across all liberated areas.
Mustafa stated that the newly opened bridge, the third of its kind in Afrin, features four lanes and spans a length of 1,650 meters. The bridge and overpass connect the entrances and exits of Afrin from the west (Jinderes Road), east (Azaz), and south (Ghazawiyah). Additionally, the bridge facilitates connectivity between the east and west of the liberated areas, passing over the Afrin River.
Mustafa pointed out that the new bridge will play a crucial role in relieving pressure and traffic congestion, ultimately reducing transportation costs, especially for cars and trucks.
Minister of Local Administration and Services, Muhammad Suleiman, noted that this project aligns with the ministry’s plan to enhance infrastructure development in Afrin, restore its cultural and aesthetic aspects, and provide improved services to fellow citizens.
