The Syrian Interim Government (SIG) has issued a statement warning against legitimizing the murderous Assad regime under the pretext of aiding earthquake victims.
The SIG emphasized that the criminal Assad regime is trying to exploit the catastrophe for its own benefit. The regime is attempting to deceive and blackmail the international community into lifting Western sanctions, normalizing relations, and allowing it to seize international aid intended for the earthquake victims in its areas.
The SIG urged the international community to be aware of these cheap tactics, which are aimed at restoring legitimacy to the murderous Assad regime. It called on all countries to implement mechanisms to prevent the regime from stealing aid and to keep its symbols under sanctions.
