President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem Al-Meslet, recently held a meeting with notables in Qabbasin, a town located in rural Aleppo. During the meeting, he listened to their concerns regarding living, security, and service conditions in the town and provided an update on the latest political developments in Syria.
The Secretary of the political committee, Abdul Majid Barakat, and the Coordinator of the SOC’s office in the liberated areas, Najib Rahmon, were also in attendance.
Al-Meslet emphasized the importance of collaboration between the Syrian Interim Government and local councils to improve living and security conditions in the region.
He also reiterated the SOC’s rejection of any attempt to rehabilitate the Assad regime or establish a relationship with it, citing the regime’s past use of internationally prohibited weapons and its responsibility for the most heinous crimes against the Syrian people.
According to Al-Meslet, the Assad regime has lost everything and can offer nothing but terrorism and illegal drugs, which will only further destabilize the security and stability of the region.
During the meeting, Al-Meslet also praised the Syrian people’s steadfastness and determination to achieve their demands for freedom, dignity, and democracy despite the ongoing violence and displacement that has plagued them for over 12 years.
