Coordinator of the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee, Ahmed Bakkoura, received Serdar Dal, Head of Social Cohesion and Communication Group of Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Migration Management, at the office of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) in Ankara in the presence of the Committee’s Director of Communication Inas al-Najjar.
The two sides discussed the major obstacles facing Syrian refugees in Istanbul, especially the issue of booking appointments to update the ID card information.
Mr. Dal said that a new system will be launched in June, which will resolve the problems and obstacles facing Syrian refugees regarding the issue of updating the registration information, especially with regard to booking of appointments. They also resolved the issue of tourist residence permits, which from now on can be issued within two weeks.
With regard to integration plans adopted by the Migration Management, Mr. Dal said that they make regular visits to the areas inhabited by Syrian refugees in order to check up on their conditions and needs. He also visited some Syrian households and shared breakfast with them in Ramadan.
Mr. Dal also talked about a new project that the Migration Management is working on with the Istanbul municipality to organize an exhibition highlighting the memories and suffering of the Syrian people over the past ten years and introducing them to the Turkish community.
The Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee regularly discusses the situation of Syrian refugees with the Turkish authorities to discuss ways to improve their conditions and find solutions to the problems facing them.
