SOC’s Department of Foreign Relations Discusses Political Developments & Iranian Aggressions in Syria

A delegation from the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee headed by the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Secretary-General Abdelbaset Abdullatif, Coordinator of the Committee Ahmed Bakkoura, and Communications Officer Inas Al-Najjar met with the new Director of Istanbul Migration Management, Bayram Yalınsu, to follow up the cooperation and coordination in order to address some issues facing Syrian refugees in Turkey.

The meeting took place in a positive atmosphere as the two sides stressed the need to continue the work to resolve all issues that Syrian refugees encounter during their stay in Turkey.

The two sides also discussed the problems some Syrian nationals have recently faced while trying to extend their tourist residence permits. Yalınsu pointed out that the Immigration Management is working to address these problems, adding that those whose applications were rejected will not have to leave the country for ten days. He said that there are new procedures that will be announced at a later time, adding that the Immigration Management is looking for new solutions for those whose applications were rejected.

Participants also discussed the issue of booking appointments to update the information in the temporary protection ID cards. Yalınsu said that there is a new mechanism that will be announced in the near future regarding booking of appointments without the need to wait for long periods of time.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of continuing to support the work of the Syrian-Turkish Joint Committee in view of its great role in communicating and resolving many of the outstanding issues facing Syrian nationals in Turkey. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)

Preserving independence and national sovereignty and maintaining the Syrian people’s unity within the same Syrian soil
is one of the critical pillars of the Syrian Coalition. The Coalition aims to overthrow the Assad regime along with all its
symbols and pillars. It also aims to dismantle its security apparatus and hold accountable those involved in crimes
against Syrians. In addition, it seeks to achieve a transition to a pluralistic, democratic and civil Syria.
