Member of the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) political committee, Farouk Tayfour, stressed the importance of the results of the Jeddah Summit for Security and Development with regard to the Syrian issue and its emphasis on the need to reach a political solution that wound bring an end to the suffering of the Syrian people.
Tayfour stressed the need for new initiatives around Syria to revitalize the political process and to take strict positions to prevent the Assad regime and its allies from disrupting the political process as key to reaching a political transition in accordance with UN Resolutions 2118 and 2254 and meeting the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity and democracy.
Tayfour also stressed the importance of the Arab role in Syria, especially the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Arab Gulf states, in ridding Syria of the criminal regime and the Iranian terrorist militias as well as facing international and regional challenges, crises and changes.
