Activists in Dara’a province have accused the Assad regime and Iranian militias of being responsible for the ongoing wave of assassinations in the region, which has been plagued by chaos and a lack of security since the regime regained control in mid-2018.
According to reports from activists, the prevailing security chaos has resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including a woman and a child, and the injury of another person. These casualties were the outcome of separate assassinations carried out by unidentified individuals over the past two days in Dara’a province.
The activists have highlighted the significant role played by Iranian-backed militias and officers from the security branches of the Assad regime in targeting opponents of the regime and promoting Iranian expansionist projects in the area through these assassinations.
Local activists have documented a total of 33 assassination operations and attempts during the month of May alone. These incidents have led to the loss of 18 lives, injuries to 13 individuals, and three survivors who narrowly escaped assassination attempts.
