The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) Women’s Office in rural Aleppo received a delegation from the Women’s Union of Aleppo Branch to discuss ways of cooperation and coordination as well as to support Syrian women and ensure that they regain their rights.
SOC’s Vice-president, Ruba Habboush, participated in the meeting via a video link. The meeting brought together member of the SOC’s, Najeeb Rahmoun, Advocacy Officer in the Women’s Union, Samar Al-Hussein, and Communications Officer, Rana Al-Agha.
Habboush talked about the importance of opening a women’s office in the liberated areas and its plan of action to communicate with the institutions and organizations concerned with women’s affairs. She stressed that the SOC attaches utmost importance to women and their vital role in society.
Participants discussed strengthening the role of women and their engagement in political and societal life. They also emphasized the importance of holding further meetings to highlight the role of women and establish mechanism for effective communication and continued coordination in this regard.
