The Assad regime continues to withhold information on the fate of the Palestinian-Syrian detainees in its custody as reports by rights groups indicated that there are at least 1,781 Palestinian-Syrians in the prisons of the Assad regime, including 108 female detainees.
In a report issued on Tuesday, the Action Group for the Palestinians of Syria (AGPS) said that the Assad regime had forcibly disappeared 248 Palestinian-Syrians from the Khan al-Sheikh camp in the Damascus suburbs, including, women, children and elderly people.
The monitoring group said that one of those forcibly disappeared is Muawiya Al-Fout, who has been detained for over six years, adding that the Assad regime refuses to disclose information about his fate or whereabouts. Al-Fout was detained at the Al-Sabina checkpoint in Damascus on September 20, 2013, with nothing heard of his fate since then.
The Group had repeatedly called for the disclosure of the fate of Palestinian-Syrians in the prisons of the Assad regime but with no avail.
The only source for information about the fate of Palestinian-Syrians in the custody of the Assad regime’s security branches is ex-detainees who spent time in the regime’s prisons. (Source: Syrian National Coalition’s Media Department)
