The 18th session of the General Assembly’s meetings began today in Istanbul. The closed meeting, which will continue over the next couple of days, will discuss the latest field and political developments, especially the Russian initiative and the plan of the UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura as well as the results of the Syrian Coalition’s recent visits to Cairo and Riyadh. The Syrian Coalition’s by-laws and the governing relationship between its various institutions will also be discussed. Moreover, the General Assembly’s members will elect a new president and new vice presidents to succeed its current President Hadi al-Bahra and a new political committee and Secretary General. The conferees will also discuss ways to step up support for the FSA and the completion of the election of the cabinet of the interim government. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
