Head of the Syrian Negotiations Commission (SNC), Anas Abdah, gave a detailed overview on the Commission’s work to the Syrian Opposition Coalition’s General Assembly during its 52nd meeting. He talked in detail about the SOC’s efforts to reach a political solution in Syria in accordance with international resolutions, especially UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
Abdah highlighted the SNC’s repeated calls on the United Nations to revitalize the political process and open all the baskets laid out in UN Resolution 2254 in parallel with the work of the Constitutional Committee.
He pointed out that the Assad regime and its supporters are still not serious about the political process and unwilling to reach a political solution as they continue to obstruct this path by all means possible.
Abdah stressed the urgent need to adopt a new vision clarifying to the Syrian people the nature of the political process and its complexities in light of the conflicting international interests.
He reaffirmed the SNC’s commitment to the goals of the Syrian revolution, and the demands of the Syrian people to regain freedom, dignity, and democracy.
Abdah also stressed the need to step up the efforts to improve the Syrian people’s reality, most importantly the 13 million displaced people and refugees. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
