The Minister of Education in the Syrian Interim Government, Jihad Hijazi, participated in the inauguration of the first art exhibition in the town of Afrin in the Aleppo countryside. Themed “Palestine in the Heart,” the exhibition showcased paintings and drawings depicting the plight of the Palestinian people under Israeli occupation.
Participants in the opening also included the Deputy Head of the Afrin Local Council, Muhammad Sheikh Rashid, the Director of Education in Afrin, Mustafa Qaraa, officials, and local dignitaries.
Through the exhibited artworks, organizers highlighted the parallels between the suffering endured by Palestinians at the hands of Israeli forces and the atrocities that Syrian civilians are enduring at the hands of the Assad regime for the past 13 years.
Mustafa Qaraa, the Director of Education in Afrin, emphasized the intrinsic connection Syrians feel towards the Palestinian cause, noting the significant turnout at the exhibition as a testament to Syrian solidarity with Palestine.
Qaraa reiterated Syria’s unwavering support for Palestine, stating, “We, in northern Syria, convey to our brothers in Palestine, particularly in Gaza: You are not alone. We stand in solidarity with you, and victory will be yours.”
