President Hadi Al-Bahra of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) and members of the presidential body welcomed Faisal Jumaa, head of the Syrian Turkmen National Council, and his accompanying delegation at the SOC’s headquarters in Istanbul. They engaged in discussions emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation, coordination, and effective participation to fulfill the aspirations of the Syrian people, for which they have endured sacrifices and revolted.
The meeting brought together SOC’s Vice Presidents Abdel Majeed Barakat, Dima Moussa, and Abdel Hakim Bashar, as well as Secretary-General Haytham Rahmeh. It was also attended by Mohammed Al-Shamali, Secretary-General of the Council, and Council member Mohammed Khans.
Al-Bahra emphasized that the SOC’s strength lying in its diverse components representing all spectrums of Syrian society, emphasizing the necessity of cohesion and joint efforts to strengthen the positive impact of the SOC as the representative of the Syrian revolution and its demands for freedom, justice, and democracy.
Providing insights into the recent tour of liberated areas and the citizens’ demands, Al-Bahra stressed the urgent need to enhance governance systems, resource support, service improvement, and establishment of an impartial judiciary, alongside achieving security, stability, and encouraging investment, highlighting the role of the Syrian interim government in these endeavors.
Jumaa reiterated the goal of Syrian unity and meeting the demands of the people for freedom, justice, and democracy, stressing the need for constitutional guarantees for the Turkmen component and all Syrian constituents to ensure equal citizenship.
He emphasized empowering the Syrian Interim Government as an executive arm of the SOC to effectively operate in liberated areas.
Both sides underscored the importance of regular meetings for consultation and coordination of political positions to alleviate the suffering of the population in the liberated areas.
Representatives from the Syrian Turkmen Council affirmed the Turkmen’s integral role in the nation, advocating for unity across Syrian regions and the establishment of a democratic system ensuring peaceful power transition, political pluralism, and citizen rights and freedoms.
