The President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Hadi Al-Bahra, along with his accompanying delegation, met with notable figures among the displaced people from Homs province currently residing in the Sharran sub-district in northern rural Aleppo.
During the meeting, Al-Bahra addressed the political process, the current international state of affairs, and the diminishing international efforts to find a sustainable solution in Syria, emphasizing the importance of fully implementing UN Security Council resolutions. He highlighted the regime’s persistent obstructionism of international efforts and noted the impact of regional and international crises on the Syrian issue.
Al-Bahra stressed the need for the international community to transition from crisis management to actively seeking resolution, advocating for a change in the Syrian reality. He emphasized the importance of advancing liberated areas, fostering unity among the Syrian people, and addressing their shared aspirations since the onset of the revolution in 2011. He referenced how the residents of Suwayda province chant revolutionary slogans, with their echoes reverberating across the entire territory of Syria.
Al-Bahra listened to the displaced people’s conditions, their challenges, and identified their immediate needs in northern Aleppo countryside.
Attendees discussed the necessity of bolstering institutions in liberated areas to ensure security, stability, and the provision of essential services to citizens, as well as promoting economic growth through available resources.
Al-Bahra highlighted the SOC and interim government’s efforts, albeit with limited resources, to improve institutional performance and service delivery, aiming to advance the region and bolster security and stability. He emphasized that revitalizing northern Syria would empower the opposition’s political leadership to pursue a desired political solution in accordance with Security Council Resolutions 2118 and 2254.
