Coordinator of the Al-Jazira and Euphrates Working Group in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdul Basit Abdul Latif, presented the group’s work report during the 69th regular meeting of the General Assembly. The meeting took place at the office of the Syrian Interim Government in Aleppo province on Thursday.
Abdul Latif addressed the outcomes of the recent visit to the Ras al-Ayn and Tal Abyad regions, emphasizing the importance of ongoing efforts to provide support to these areas. He stressed the need to intensify international meetings to improve living conditions, basic services, and economic prospects for the local population.
Highlighting the significance of bolstering security conditions in Ras al-Ayn and Tal Abyad for sustainable stability, Abdul Latif outlined key objectives, including facilitating the return of displaced individuals to their homes, encouraging business ventures and investments, and expediting support for agricultural and livestock projects.
Abdul Latif also explained the expansion of the Al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee’s work by incorporating influential figures from the region. He emphasized that the group’s focus extends beyond meeting the needs of Tal Abyad and Ras Al-Ain, underscoring the importance of paying attention to the broader region east of the Euphrates. Additionally, he highlighted the group’s commitment to monitoring and addressing the criminal practices of Iranian sectarian militias and the PYD terrorist militia’s attacks against the local population.
