The Syrian Opposition Coalition’s (SOC) al-Jazira and Euphrates Committee on Friday held its periodic meeting to discuss the situation in east of the Euphrates and the results of the Committee’s work in the provinces of Deir Ezzor, Raqqa and Hasaka.
The meeting brought together SOC’s Vice-President and Coordinator of the Committee, Oqab Yahya, Secretary-General Abdelbaset Abdullatif, Secretary of the political committee Riyad al-Hassan, member of the committee, Yasser al-Farhan, and SOC’s members Muhammad Wali, Muhammad Ali Issa, and Abdullah al-Faraj.
Participants discussed the work of the Committee and mechanisms for activating the SOC’s office in the town of Tal Abyad in rural Raqqa. They also discussed the Committee’s work, its achievements, and the difficulties it is facing.
They listened to an overview by Secretary-General Abdullatif on the SOC’s recent visit to the region and the decision to open an office in Tal Abyad.
Members of the Committee agreed that SOC’s members from the region would organize work in the office, develop a plan to communicate with the people of the region, and detail the results of their meetings at the Committee’s next meeting. They pointed out that the presence of the SOC in that region is an important gateway for interaction with its people.
It was also agreed that members of the Committee be permanently present in the office after attending the upcoming Conference of Syrian Tribes due to be held on April 5th. (Source: SOC’s Media Department)
