The Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC) stressed that the so-called amnesty that the Assad regime has recently issued is no more than ruse to deceive the public opinion, citing the regime’s practices against the Syrian civilians following every amnesty it issues. He pointed out that these so-called amnesty decrees aim to convince the international community to accept the regime back in its fold.
Member of the SOC’s political committee, Muhammad al-Khatib, said that the Assad regime’s intelligence agencies re-arrested a number of the recently released detainees along with relatives who were waiting for their family members to be released over the past few days.
Local news outlets said that the Assad regime forces re-arrested two people who were recently released while they were on their way home. They also detained four young men of the detainees’ families while they were waiting for new batches of detainees in central Damascus.
Sawt Al-Asima newspaper said that forces of the State Security raided al-Manshiya park and arrested two brothers who were with their family, threatening to arrest the entire family. A young man from eastern Ghouta was detained in front of the governorate building in central Damascus, while another one was arrested in front of the Justice Palace in al-Hamidiya district.
