President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition, Salem al-Meslet, sent a congratulatory letter to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of the Democracy and National Unity Day to mark the anniversary of the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016. Al-Meslet wished Turkey’s president, government and people goodness and serenity, praying that Allah perpetuate security, stability, progress and prosperity for the Turkish nation.
Al-Meslet commended the bravery of the Turkish people and how they reacted to defend the values of freedom, equality, fraternity, and democracy by demonstrating peaceful, high public awareness at one of the most crucial moments in Türkiye’s modern history.
“The pouring of millions of Turkish citizens to the streets to thwart the coup attempt is a turning point in the history of Turkish democracy, so from this victory onward no one will dare violate the rights of the heroic Turkish people, who presented the most wonderful epics in defending democracy,” Al-Meslet added.
He expressed his deepest gratitude to the Turkish government and people for the considerable support as well as determined and generous efforts to support the resilience of the Syrian people against the Assad regime.
