Secretary-General of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Haytham Rahmeh, congratulated the Turkish government and people for the Democracy and National Unity Day on the anniversary of the failed coup attempt of July 15, 2016.
Rahmeh said that the night of July 15, 2016 was a historic night for Türkiye and a victory for democracy when the brotherly Turkish people showed strong awareness and paramount concern for their country and state.”
“The scenes of Turkish citizens standing up to tanks in the streets cannot be forgotten. The Turkish people showed tremendous courage and a high sense of solidarity in the face of the putschists,” Rahmeh added.
Rahmeh also praised the Turkish government and its commitment to the safety and wellbeing of its country and people, thanking their efforts in helping the Syrian people and wishing them further security and prosperity.
He stressed Türkiye’s regional and international importance as well as the need for it to remain strong and steadfast in the face of global challenges and changes.
