President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, visited to the headquarters of the Liberation and Construction Movement in Jindires sub-district of Afrin region. He met with the movement’s leader, Colonel Hussein Hammadi, and its leadership and discussed with them the field conditions and developments in the political process.
Al-Meslet was accompanied by SOC’s members Muhammad Yassin, Muhammad Sheikh Rashid, Atef Zureik, Haitham Shihabi, and Muhammad Salem Al-Makhlif.
Colonel Hammadi stressed that the SOC is an important institution and must be preserved. He pointed out that criticism helps correct the mistakes rather than undermines the institution. He said that the service demands are legitimate, but there are those who incite against the institutions. He stressed the importance of effective administration to work with all institutions as one hand.
The two sides stressed the need to intensify visits and periodic meetings in order to discuss common concerns and the political, military and civil situations. They also stressed need to take serious steps in the path of political transition in accordance with UN resolutions, especially resolution 2254.
Regarding the latest statements of the Turkish Foreign Minister, al-Meslet said that there was an exaggeration in the interpretation of the statements of the minister, who reaffirmed his country’s principled position in supporting the demands of the Syrian people.
