President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, met with dignitaries of the Syrian tribal community and representatives of civil, political and social bodies in the Turkish city of Şanlıurfa.
Al-Meslet was accompanied by SOC’s members Ahmad Tomeh, Jihad Matar, Muhammad Ali Issa, and the Minister of Agriculture in the Syrian Interim Government Hayel Al-Kalesh.
The meeting, which took place in the office of Al-Akidat and Zabid tribes in Şanlıurfa, focused on discussing the latest political developments in Syria. The two sides stressed the need to reach a political solution that meets the Syrian people’s aspirations for freedom, dignity and democracy in line with the Geneva Communique of 2012 and Resolutions 2118 and 2254.
Al-Meslet spoke about the process of completing the co-opting of influential figures in the youth federations, unions and associations into the SOC, stressing the need for cooperation and the combination of efforts to face the upcoming challenges.
