President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Salem al-Meslet, sent letters to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar to thank their demonstration of solidarity with the Syrian people and their noble cause, rejection of normalization of relations with the Assad regime, and refusal of its return to the Arab League.
Al-Meslet stressed the pivotal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar in supporting the Syrian people in their struggle for freedom, dignity and justice. He also stressed their important role in the political and diplomatic process that is able to advance a solution in Syria forward and contribute to pushing the international and Arab community towards the implementation of Security Council resolutions, especially UN resolutions 2118 and 2254.
He also stressed the importance of the Arab role in confronting the Iranian military and political influence and interference as well as the malicious project through which the Iranian regime is trying to tear the societal fabric of Syria and the region.
Al-Meslet pointed to the importance of the Arab countries’ continued isolation of the Assad regime and the refusal to engage in its legitimization, rehabilitation or acceptance in the Arab League. He stressed that the Assad regime lacks legitimacy and does not represent Syria or its people, adding that accepting it means enabling Iran to place its representative in Syria’s seat in the Arab League.
