Secretary-General of the Syrian Coalition Abdul Ilah Alfahd on Friday met with Karen Decker, the US government’s director of the response team to assist transition in Syria. The two sides discussed the Coalition’s efforts to provide humanitarian aid to civilians in the liberated areas; promote intra-Syrian dialogue; and reach out to the Syrian opposition across the political spectrum as well as to activists inside Syria.
The meeting also discussed the sieges regime forces impose on rebel-held areas and the regime’s attempts to force residents of these areas out of their homes to bring about a demographic change in Syria. The Coalition warned that these policies threaten the future of Syria and its unity.
Alfahd said that the US Administration’s failure to provide sufficient support for the Syrian revolution is the reason behind Russia’s arrogance and continued aggression on Syria as well its disruption of all the efforts to reach a political solution in Syria. He condemned Russia’s insistence on saving and rehabilitating the Assad regime. (Source: Syrian Coalition)
