The Syrian Coalition condemns the Assad regime’s targeting of medical and humanitarian staff, saying that the attacks on hospitals and medical centers are terrorist acts that must come to an end. The Syrian Network for Human Rights has documented the death of 20 members of the medical staff in Syria in air raids during October, in addition to two others who died under torture Assad’s secret jails. Salem al-Meslet, spokesman for the Syrian Coalition, calls on the international community to shoulder its responsibility towards these crimes which violates the Geneva Convention concerning the protection of basic human rights in wartime. This deliberate targeting of field hospitals, medical centers, mosques and relief warehouses is part of a systematic plan carried out by regime forces across Syria since the start of the revolution.
