The Coordinator of the Refugee and Displaced Persons Working Group in the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Ahmad Baccora, extended congratulations to the Syrian people on their “great victory” over Assad regime forces. He expressed profound gratitude and appreciation to “our heroic youth who displayed an admirable model of discipline and responsibility, deserving of all praise.”
Baccora emphasized that “this commitment must remain our guiding principle until we achieve our desired goals.”
He reminded everyone of the importance of conserving ammunition and refraining from using it in celebratory expressions of joy. Such actions, he noted, waste valuable resources needed for the battle and cause fear among civilians. He added, “Let us channel our joy over this achievement into motivation for further work and commitment while ensuring the safety and security of our people.”
Baccora stressed that the Syrian revolution and opposition forces have repeatedly affirmed their commitment to supporting a political solution that ensures Syria’s stability, preserves its institutions, and maintains its territorial integrity. He pointed out that the criminal regime has consistently refused to engage in the political process, insisting instead on a zero-sum military approach to Syrians’ demands. Russia has also failed to compel the regime to comply, leading to a political impasse.
He asserted that the ongoing military operations are a natural consequence of this failure, compounded by the regime’s continued targeting of civilians in liberated areas.
Baccora explained that reports from regime-held areas indicate that the regime is on the verge of collapse. He stated that, from a position of national responsibility, “we reaffirm our unwavering stance on the importance of protecting the Syrian state and its institutions from collapse.”
He emphasized that safeguarding the state, its institutions, and its territorial integrity is the only way to ensure Syria’s stability and protect the rights of its people.
Baccora underlined that the regime’s policies or its potential collapse must not be allowed to plunge the state into chaos. He expressed a commitment to pursuing political solutions that ensure a genuine transition, preserving the unity of Syrian territory and its institutions while serving the interests of the Syrian people.
