Hadi Bahra, member of the Syrian Coalition’s Political Committee, slammed the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statement which claims that “the static Russian position on Syria helped ward off military intervention which would lead to deterioration of the situation in the Middle East.” Bahra stresses that these claims are “unrealistic, as Russia is responsible for the direct military intervention of the militias of terrorist Hezbollah and Abu al Fadl al Abbas Brigade and Iran.” Furthermore, Bahra regrets the Russian Foreign Ministry’s claims that destroying Syria’s chemical weapons is a major achievement made by the major powers, at the time when “hundreds of thousands of Syrians are being killed.” Bahra went on: “More important than eliminating Syria’s chemical weapons is stopping Assad’s indiscriminate killing machine.” Bahra also lampooned the international community’s position, saying that “preventing the Assad regime from killing Syrians with chemical weapons while remaining silent about killing them by less lethal weapons is tantamount to urging Assad to kill Syrians in a piecemeal fashion rather than the wholesale butchering of them.” Bahra added: “We are with the removal of chemical weapons, not from Syria, but from all the Middle East. The international community’s move to rid Syria of its chemical weapons serves the Israeli occupation and was not meant to end the bloodshed in Syria.” Moreover, Bahra called on the Russian government “to be more positive and pressure Assad to stop barrel bomb attacks on the civilians, especially in Aleppo, and to suspend its military support to the regime.” Furthermore, the Syrian National Council’s chief George Sabra said in a statement: “Do the Syrian people have to pay more blood in return for the American-Iranian nuke deal and ridding Syria of its chemical weapons?” Sabra also said: “The international community must realize that the Syrian people won’t give up despite all the massacres committed by Assad and his sectarian backers.” Sabra also lampooned the deal signed with the Assad regime, describing it as “the arrest of chemical weapons.” (Source: Syrian Coalition)
