Vice President of the Syrian Opposition Coalition (SOC), Abdul Majeed Barakat, said that the Assad regime, its proxies, and the PYD terrorist militia persist in their terrorist attacks on civilians. He added that the simultaneous targeting of liberated areas and the ongoing commission of crimes against the populace serves as clear evidence of coordination between the Assad regime and the PYD militia. This collaboration indicates a shared goal and strategy aimed at undermining security and destabilizing the region.
Barakat emphasized in a press statement that the daily loss of civilian lives, the targeting of vital areas, and the destruction of infrastructure pose significant obstacles to efforts to provide security and stability for the population. Such actions erode confidence in achieving a political solution that guarantees a decent standard of living, prompting many to seek refuge outside their homeland.
Barakat urged the international community to take decisive action to halt the bombing of civilian areas in northern Syria and to advance the political process, ensuring full implementation of UN Resolution 2254 and facilitating a comprehensive political transition that aligns with the aspirations of the Syrian people for freedom, dignity, and democracy.
According to the Syrian News Agency (SNA), a civilian was killed on Thursday in the town of Darat Azza in the Aleppo countryside when it was targeted by 10 suicide drones operated by Assad’s forces and Iranian militias.
The Syrian Civil Defense reported that on Wednesday, a woman was killed and another woman injured as a result of artillery shelling originating from areas jointly controlled by regime forces and the PYD terrorist militia in rural Aleppo. The shelling struck civilian homes in the village of Al-Sayyid Ali in northern rural Aleppo.
